Anne Heraty is a very successful Irish businesswoman. She is one of the people who started a company called CPL Resources. She also owns a big part of the company. Today, she is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CPL.
Starting CPL Resources
In 1989, Anne Heraty and Keith O'Malley started a company together. It was called Computer Placement Ltd. This company helped people find jobs at new technology companies in Ireland.
By 1992, Anne Heraty bought all the shares from the other owners. This meant she owned 100% of the company.
In 1996, Anne's husband, Paul Carroll, joined the company. In 1999, they decided to make CPL a public company. This means its shares could be bought and sold on the stock market. CPL Resources Plc. started trading on the Irish Stock Exchange and the London Stock Exchange. With this, Anne Heraty became the first woman CEO of an Irish company listed on the stock exchange.
Anne Heraty announced that she would step down as CEO of CPL Resources on January 1, 2022.
Awards and Recognition
Because she was the first woman CEO of a listed Irish company, many people learned about her. In 2006, she won the Ernst & Young Businesswomen of the Year award. The website Business and Leadership also listed her as one of the most powerful women in Ireland.
Over the years, her success led to her being asked to join the boards of other companies. A board of directors helps guide a company. Some of her important roles included:

- A director for the Irish Stock Exchange
- A director for Forfas
- A director for Bord na Mona
Role at Anglo Irish Bank
Her role at Anglo Irish Bank was very well-known. She stepped down from the bank's board early on. This happened shortly after the Irish government took over the bank.
Other Board Roles
Within a week of leaving Anglo Irish Bank, she also left her director roles at Forfas and Bord na Mona.
Anne Heraty is also a board member of Ibec. Ibec is Ireland's biggest business group. It works to support businesses in Ireland.
