Anne Linnet's Music Journey

Starting Her Music Career in the 1970s

Anne Linnet started her music journey in 1969. She began by playing folk rock music. From 1971 to 1976, she was in a band called Tears. This band was from Århus. With Tears, she recorded albums like Sweet Thing and Tears in My Ears.

In 1973, Anne Linnet helped start an all-female band. It was called ... & Chanel. They released four albums over seven years. One of their biggest hits was "Smuk og dejlig". This song means "gorgeous and lovely" in Danish. The band later split up. This happened after a lawsuit about using the name "Chanel".

Forming New Bands in the 1980s

After the split, Anne Linnet formed the Anne Linnet Band. They released two albums from 1981 to 1982. Two other popular singers, Sanne Salomonsen and Lis Sørensen, were also in this band. They both became very successful.

In 1983, Anne Linnet also published a book of poems called Glimt. That same year, she formed a new wave band. They released an album with a harder, more electronic sound. This was a change from her earlier, softer music.

Hits and Awards in the Late 1980s

In 1986, Anne Linnet released "Barndommens gade". This song was for the film Early Spring. Both the song and film were based on a novel by Tove Ditlevsen. Linnet set many of Ditlevsen's poems to music. These were released on the album Barndommens gade. The song became a big hit. It won the Robert Award for best film score.

In 1988, Linnet released Jeg er jo lige her. This album sold over 400,000 copies. It became her most successful album ever. The first song from it was "Tusind stykker". This song became a huge hit. She also started her own record company, Pladecompagniet, in 1986.

In 1989, she worked with priest and author Johannes Møllehave. They released the album Min sang. It had poems inspired by Christian faith. They later performed church concerts together.

New Projects and Recognition in the 1990s and 2000s

In 1994, Anne Linnet sold her record company, Pladecompagniet. She then wrote an opera called Thorvaldsen. It was about a Danish sculptor. The opera was released on CD in 1996.

In 1999, Linnet started her second record company, Circle Records. She also published the first part of her life story. In 2000, she wrote four children's books about a dog named Ivan.

Her album Over mig under mig came out in 2002. In 2006, she showed her oil paintings in Copenhagen. That same year, her song "Smuk og dejlig" was added to the Danish Culture Canon. This is a list of important Danish cultural works. Her children's album Go' sønda' morn' was also included. In 2007, her album Akvarium was released. It became a big success and reached number one on the Danish music charts.
