Anne Michalov (born June 6, 1904 – died December 29, 2001) was an American artist. She was known for her beautiful paintings and prints. Sometimes, her name was also written as Ann Michalov. After she got married, she was known as Anne Michalov Johnson.

Anne Michalov's Life and Art
Early Life and Training
Anne Michalov was born in a town called Coal City, Illinois. This was in 1904. When she was a young woman in the 1920s, she went to art school. She studied at the famous School of the Art Institute of Chicago. This is where she learned many of her art skills.
Creating Art During the Great Depression
During a difficult time called the Great Depression, Anne Michalov helped with a special government program. This program was called the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The Great Depression was a time in the United States when many people lost their jobs and money. The WPA helped people find work, including artists.
For the WPA, Anne Michalov created many artworks. She made eleven lithographs, which are a type of print. She also painted many pictures and even large wall paintings called murals. Her art often showed scenes from everyday life during that time.
Moving West and Teaching Art
Later in her life, Anne Michalov moved to the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. She moved there because her husband was in the military. In the 1940s, she taught art classes. She worked at the WPA Art Center in Spokane, Washington. For a short time, she also lived in Seattle. Anne Michalov passed away in Portland, Oregon, in 2001.
