Annie Wu Suk-ching is a well-known businesswoman from Hong Kong. She was born on September 13, 1948. Her father, Dr. James Tak Wu, started the famous company Maxim's Catering. Annie Wu is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which is an important advisory group in China. She has received an award called the Silver Bauhinia Star for her contributions.
Early Life and Business Career
Annie Wu grew up in Hong Kong. She went to Sacred Heart Canossian College there. Later, from 1968 to 1970, she studied at Armstrong College in Berkeley, United States.
Annie Wu is the honorary president of Beijing Air Catering Ltd. This company was very special because it was the first "joint venture" company in mainland China. A joint venture is when two or more companies work together on a business project. Beijing Air Catering was set up on May 1, 1980. She is also the managing director of Hong Kong Beijing Air Catering Ltd.
Her Views on Hong Kong Events
In 2019, Annie Wu shared her views on the public events happening in Hong Kong. She spoke about her opinions, and these views were supported by some, including the Chinese newspaper People’s Daily.
Later that year, Annie Wu also spoke about her views at the United Nations Human Rights Council. This led to some protests and damage to her father's restaurant chain. Annie Wu also asked the Chinese Foundation Secondary School, which she helped start, to address staff and students who supported the protests.

Annie Wu is a member of the CPPCC from Hong Kong. This means she is also part of the 1500-person election committee. This committee is responsible for choosing the leader of Hong Kong, called the Chief Executive of Hong Kong.
In 1999, Annie Wu received the Silver Bauhinia Star award from the Hong Kong government. She was also given an Honorary Doctor's Degree by Carleton College in the United States in 2009.
She serves as the Honorary Consul for the United Republic of Tanzania in Hong Kong and Macau. She is also the Chairperson of the Global Advisory Committee for AMTD Group.
