Anniesland Court is a tall residential building in the Anniesland area of Glasgow, Scotland. It was designed by J Holmes & Partners and finished in 1968. This building is special because it's the tallest listed building in Scotland.

It looks quite similar to the famous Trellick Tower in London. Anniesland Court is the only tower block in Glasgow to have a special "category A listing." This means it's considered a very important historical building.

What is Anniesland Court?

Anniesland Court is a 22-storey building where people live. It was built between 1966 and 1968. Later, in 1984 and 1985, some extra work was done on the ground floor.

Unique Design

Even though the building has 22 floors, the elevators only stop at 7 different levels. This design was made to look like a traditional Glasgow Tenement building turned on its side. A tenement is a large building divided into separate flats.

Each of the 7 levels has 18 homes. These include two-bedroom flats (some upstairs, some downstairs) and single one-room flats. All homes have their own kitchens and bathrooms. The two-bedroom flats have their bedrooms facing the back of the building.

On the back side of the building, there are "drying balconies." These balconies are lit up at night with blue lights. People flying into Glasgow Airport can often see them from the sky.

What's Inside and Around the Building?

Below the main tower, on Crow Road, you'll find offices for Glasgow City Council's Financial Services. There's also an office for the Glasgow Housing Association.

Underneath the building, there's a basement garage for residents to park their cars. There's also an outdoor car park nearby.

In front of the building, there's a patio area. This patio is three levels higher than Great Western Road. To the east of the main tower, there's a smaller building that also has homes. This smaller building has 24 homes, including maisonettes and flats.

Below this smaller building, on Crow Road, is the Anniesland Branch Library and Learning Centre. Next to the library, you'll find the Anniesland Court Community Hall. This hall was updated in 2008 and is used by the Anniesland Court Residents Association. It's a place where residents can meet, chat, and hold events.

How is it Managed?

In 2003, Anniesland Court became part of the homes managed by the Glasgow Housing Association. The Great Western Tenant Partnership (GWTP) now helps manage the complex.

At night, the building is lit up with colorful "spider" floodlights. These lights shine on the sides of the building and on the balconies.

Anniesland Court is located in the Drumchapel/Anniesland area of Glasgow.
