Ansley Park is a special neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia. It is located near Midtown Atlanta and Piedmont Park. This area was built between 1905 and 1908. It was the first neighborhood in Atlanta designed for cars. This meant it had wide, curving roads instead of straight, grid-like streets. The streets were made to look like parkways with lots of trees and plants. Two parks, Winn Park and McClatchey Park, stretch far into the neighborhood.

Ansley Park is home to the Ansley Golf Club. Most of the neighborhood was finished by 1930. It covers about 275 acres (1.1 square kilometers). Ansley Park is recognized as a Historic District. This means it has special historical importance. In 2008, families living here had a high average income of over $226,000. The BeltLine's Eastside Trail is also very close to the golf course.

History of Ansley Park

This area was created by Edwin P. Ansley. He was a very successful businessman in trains and real estate. George W. Adair, Jr. and Forrest Adair helped sell the land. Ansley Park was promoted as a new, fancy place to live. It was meant for Atlanta's wealthiest families. At the time, Inman Park was the most popular neighborhood. But Ansley Park was in a better spot. It was right on Peachtree Street and next to the city's biggest public park.

Edwin Ansley's old house even became the governor's home for a while. The Piedmont Driving Club, a private club, was also nearby. This helped Ansley Park stay a very upscale area. In the 1960s, some houses became boarding houses, which meant a slight decline. But residents worked hard to improve the area. Ansley Park did not experience the big decline that other neighborhoods faced.
