Anson is a small, unincorporated community located in Chippewa County, Wisconsin, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's part of a larger area called a "town" (which is like a township in Wisconsin). Anson is specifically located within the Town of Anson. It sits about 948 feet (289 meters) above sea level.
History
The community of Anson has a short but interesting history. A special office for sending and receiving mail, called a post office, was opened in Anson in 1895. This post office helped people in the area send letters and packages. However, it only stayed open for a few years. It was closed down in 1901. The community was named after a person called Anson Burlingame. He was an important American diplomat who lived in the 1800s.
