Antas is a cool town (also called a municipality) in the province of Almería. It is part of the sunny region of Andalusia in southern Spain.
This area is very special because the mountains of Filabres gently slope down to a rich, flat plain. Here, Antas is surrounded by many orange and lemon groves. You can also find other fruits and vegetables growing in this highly farmed area. The local market is famous for its fresh and tasty produce.
The river that runs through Antas is usually dry. But it has carved a deep path through the soft sandstone. Birds love to build their nests in the holes of these cliffs. In the 1960s, there were more men than women living in Antas. To help balance the population, women from the nearby province of Murcia moved to Antas and became part of the community.
