Antelope horns (scientific name: Asclepias asperula) is a type of milkweed plant. It is also known as green-flowered milkweed or spider antelope horns. It belongs to a group of plants called the Asclepiadoideae subfamily.

Where Antelope Horns Grow

This plant is naturally found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It likes to grow in soil that is a bit wet. This soil can be sandy or rocky.

What Antelope Horns Look Like

Antelope horns plants usually grow to be about 0.3 to 0.6 meters (1 to 2 feet) tall. They typically bloom, or flower, during the spring months, from April to June. The flowers are often a greenish color. The plant's seed pods are said to look like the horns of an antelope, which is how it got its common name.
