Anthony-Maria Browne (born in 1574 – died on October 23, 1629) was an important English nobleman. He lived during the Tudor and Stuart times in England.
Early Life and Family
Anthony-Maria Browne was born in 1574. His father was also named Anthony Browne. His mother was Mary Dormer.
When he was 18, his grandfather passed away in 1592. Anthony-Maria then became the Second Viscount Montagu. This meant he inherited a large estate.

Marriage and Children
In 1591, Anthony-Maria Browne married Jane Sackville. She was the daughter of Thomas Sackville, 1st Earl of Dorset.
Together, they had several children:
- Francis Browne (who died young)
- Anthony Browne (who also died young)
- Francis Browne, 3rd Viscount Montague, who later married Elizabeth Somerset.
- Mary Browne, who married twice.
- Catherine Browne, who married William Tyrwhit.
- Another Mary Browne, who married Robert Petre, 3rd Baron Petre.
- Frances Browne, who married John Blomer.
- Anne Browne, who became a nun.
- Lucy Browne, who also became a nun.

Life Events
Anthony-Maria Browne faced a difficult time when he was arrested. This was in connection with the Gunpowder Plot. He spent about a year in the Tower of London.
In 1595, he wrote a special book. It was called "A Booke of Orders and Rules." This book was about how to manage a nobleman's home. It showed how important it was to keep things organized.
He passed away on October 23, 1629. He was buried in Midhurst Church in Sussex.
