Sir Anthony Paulet (born 1562, died 1600) was an important English official. He came from Hinton St George in Somerset, England. From 1588 until his death in 1600, he served as the Governor of Jersey. This meant he was in charge of the island of Jersey, which is a small island near the coast of France but belongs to the United Kingdom.

Early Life and Family
Anthony Paulet was born in 1562 at Hinton St George, a village in Somerset. He was the oldest son of Sir Amias Paulet and his wife, Margaret Hervey. His father, Sir Amias, was also a very important person in the government.
Education and Travel
When Anthony was younger, he traveled to Paris, France, with his father. His father, Sir Amias, was working there as an Ambassador. An ambassador is a country's official representative in another country.
In 1579, while in Paris, Anthony and his brother George had a special teacher named Jean Hotman. Hotman was the son of a famous law professor. He helped teach the boys. Later that year, when their father was called back to England, Hotman came with them. He continued to teach Anthony and George when they lived in Oxford, England.
Becoming Governor
Anthony Paulet studied at Oxford University. He earned a degree called a Master of Arts. This is an advanced university degree. After his studies, he followed in his father's footsteps. He took over his father's role as the Governor of Jersey. This was a very important job, as he was responsible for the safety and good running of the island.
Marriage and Children
In 1583, Anthony Paulet married Catherine Norris. She was the daughter of Henry Norris, 1st Baron Norreys. Anthony and Catherine had three children together:
- John Poulett, 1st Baron Poulett (born around 1585) was their only son who lived to be an adult. He later became a Baron in 1627, which is a title of nobility.
- Susan Poulett (died 1673) married Sir Peter Prideaux, 2nd Baronet.
- Margery Poulett married John Sydenham. They had four daughters.
Landholdings
Anthony Paulet owned land, including the manor of East Lydford. A manor was a large estate with a main house and land.
Death and Burial
Sir Anthony Paulet died on July 22, 1600. He was buried in St George's Church in Hinton St George, the same place where he was born.
