The Anthony Yoerg Sr. House is a special old house in Saint Paul, Minnesota. It's known as a "historic house" because it's very old and important to the area's history.
This house was once the home of Anthony Yoerg (1816–1896). He was an immigrant from Bavaria, a region in Germany. Anthony Yoerg built Minnesota's very first brewery! A brewery is a place where beer is made. His house sits high up on the bluffs, and his brewery was right below it in Saint Paul's West Side neighborhood.
The Anthony Yoerg Sr. House is so important that it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This is like a special list of buildings, sites, and objects that are important to American history.
Building the House
The Anthony Yoerg Sr. House was finished in 1875. It was built by a company called Sheire, Monroe & Brother. The main architect was Monroe Sheire.
This house is one of the few buildings designed by Monroe Sheire that are still standing today. Another famous building he worked on is the Alexander Ramsey House, which was completed a few years earlier in 1872.
