An unincorporated community is a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. According to the Handbook of Texas, about 45 people lived in Antioch in the year 2000.

The Story of Antioch

Antioch started as a small community around a church in 1856. It was first known by the shorter name "Anti."

A post office opened in Antioch in 1888. It helped people send and receive mail. The post office stayed open until 1904, though it was closed for a short time between 1889 and 1901.

By 1936, Antioch had a church, a cemetery, and several homes spread out. In 1983, 29 people lived there. The community had two businesses, a church, and a cemetery. The population stayed at 29 in 1990. Then, it grew to 45 people by 2000.

Where is Antioch?

Antioch is found in the northeastern part of Cass County. You can find it along Farm to Market Road 96 and Farm to Market Road 2791. It is about 7 miles (11 km) northwest of a larger town called Atlanta.

In 1936, Antioch had its own school for local children. Today, students in the community attend schools that are part of the Queen City Independent School District. This district provides education for students from Antioch and nearby areas.
