Antlers, Colorado facts for kids
Antlers is a small, undeveloped area in Garfield County, Colorado, in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is known as an "unincorporated community," which means it's a place where people live but it doesn't have its own local government like a town or city. Instead, it's governed by the county.
History of Antlers
Antlers has a simple but interesting past. A post office was opened there in 1891. This post office helped people send and receive mail, connecting the community to the rest of the world. It stayed open for many years, finally closing in 1954.
The name "Antlers" comes from a famous building called the Antlers Hotel (Colorado). This hotel was an important landmark in the area, and the community grew up around it, taking its name from the hotel.
