Her Early Life and Musical Journey
Antonia Sarcina was born in Trieste, Italy, on March 23, 1963. When she was just one year old, in 1964, her family moved to Rome. It was in Rome that her amazing musical journey truly began. From the young age of 10, she started to compose her own music. She would then perform these new creations at her piano concerts.
Learning and Teaching Music
Antonia Sarcina studied classical music at a famous school in Rome called the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia. She learned about composing music from Teresa Procaccini. She also studied how to arrange music for brass bands with Raffaele Tega. And she learned how to conduct, or lead, musical groups from Bruno Aprea.
Since 2002, Antonia Sarcina has also been a teacher. She has taught at several music schools, including the Conservatorio Nino Rota in Monopoli, near Bari. She also taught at the Naples Conservatory and her old school, the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome.
Award-Winning Compositions
Antonia Sarcina has written more than 90 musical pieces! Her works cover many different styles, from religious music to large symphonic pieces. She has also composed music for theatre and made special arrangements for bands.
Some of her musical works have won awards in national and international competitions. Important groups and organizations have asked her to create music for them. These include the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Adkins Chiti Foundation, and Certamen Vaticanum.
