Antonio "Tony" Veloso Cuenco (born March 26, 1936 – died June 27, 2020) was a Filipino politician. He served in many important roles. He was a council member for the Cebu City Council and also represented Cebu City in the House of Representatives. He even served as the Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

His Early Life and Family
Antonio "Tony" Cuenco was born on March 26, 1936, in Cebu. He came from the well-known Cuenco family, who were famous for their public service. His father, Manuel Cuenco, was a former Governor. His grand-uncle, Miguel Cuenco, was also a Representative, and his grandfather, Mariano Jesús Cuenco, was a Senate President.
Tony Cuenco was married to Nancy Roa-Cuenco, who also served as a congresswoman. They had four children: James Anthony, Ronald, Antonio Jr., and Cynthia.
He went to high school at Ateneo de Cagayan. Later, he studied at Ateneo de Manila University, where he earned degrees in Arts and Law.
Becoming a Public Servant
Tony Cuenco started his political journey at a young age. When he was 29, he became one of the youngest Congressmen elected. A Congressman is someone who represents the people of a certain area in the country's law-making body. He served in the House of Representatives for different terms, starting in 1965. He also served in the Batasang Pambansa, which was another important law-making body.
Serving the People
Representing Cebu City
After his wife finished her term, Tony Cuenco ran for the Congressional seat for Cebu City's 2nd District. He won and continued to represent the people of that area for many years. He was re-elected several times, showing that the people trusted him to speak for them in the national government. His last term as a Representative ended in 2010.
Other Important Roles
Besides being a Representative, Tony Cuenco took on other significant roles. From 2010 to 2013, he was the Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). This group brings together lawmakers from different countries in Southeast Asia to work on important issues together.
