Growing Up and Serving His Country
Antonio Parkinson was born in California. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served his country. After his military service, he moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
Public Service and Business
While living in Memphis, Mr. Parkinson became a firefighter for Shelby County. He worked his way up to the rank of Lieutenant before he retired.
Mr. Parkinson also owns a business called Black Market Strategies. This company helps other businesses with public relations and marketing. Before owning his own firm, he helped a website called ABetterMemphis.com. This website allowed people in Memphis to share their ideas and opinions about their city.

Becoming a State Representative
Antonio Parkinson won a special election on March 8, 2011. This election was for the 98th Legislative District in Tennessee. He won with almost all the votes. In 2012, he ran again and won without anyone running against him in the primary election. He also won the general election that year with many votes.
Important Work in Government
Mr. Parkinson has been recognized as Tennessee Legislator of the Year four times. One of these awards was for being the Regional Legislator of the Year. He is known for being a strong supporter of public education. He also works hard to improve justice laws.
