Antti Ilari Törmänen (born September 19, 1970) is a famous Finnish ice hockey player who used to play professionally. After his playing career, he became a successful ice hockey coach. He is currently the head coach for EHC Biel, a team in Switzerland's top ice hockey league, the National League. During his 14 years as a player, he played for several teams, including the Ottawa Senators in the NHL, Jokerit in Finland, and HV71 and Södertälje SK in Sweden.

Antti Törmänen's Playing Days
Antti Törmänen started his professional ice hockey journey with the Finnish team Jokerit. He played there for four seasons. In 1994, he was chosen by the Ottawa Senators in the NHL Draft. This is when NHL teams pick new players. He was the 274th player picked that year.
Time in North America
After playing one more season with Jokerit, Antti Törmänen joined the Ottawa Senators for the 1995–96 season. He played 50 games for the Senators. He also played 22 games with their minor league team, the Prince Edward Island Senators. This was his only season playing in North America.
Back to Europe
After his time in North America, Törmänen returned to Europe. He played again for Jokerit, and also for HV71 Jönköping and Södertälje SK in Sweden. He retired from playing after the 2003–04 season. His best season as a player was in 1993–94 with Jokerit, where he scored 20 goals and made 18 assists in 46 games. During his playing career, fans often called him "Törminator".
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Antti Törmänen began his coaching career.
Coaching in Finland
He first coached the U18 and U20 teams for Espoo Blues in Finland. His U20 team won a championship in 2009. He then became an assistant coach for Jokerit, his former team. Later, he became the head coach of Sport in Finland's second-tier league, Mestis. He led Sport to win the Mestis title in the 2010–11 season and was named the Mestis Coach of the Year.
Coaching in Switzerland
Törmänen then moved to Switzerland to coach. He joined SC Bern in the top Swiss league as an assistant coach. In October 2011, he became the head coach. He led SC Bern to win the league title in 2013. However, he was let go the next season after the team had a tough losing streak.
In April 2014, Törmänen agreed to become the head coach for HIFK, another Finnish team. He stayed with them until the end of the 2016–17 season. On December 11, 2017, he took over as head coach for EHC Biel in the Swiss National League, where he coaches today.
In July 2020, Antti Törmänen was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer. He has continued to coach despite this challenge.
