Helping Others and Making Cheese
Anuradha Krishnamoorthy has always wanted to help people. She started an organization that helps people with disabilities. This organization supports them in finding good jobs.
Starting Käse Cheese
In 2016, Anuradha started a cheese company called Käse Cheese. She founded it in Chennai, India. Her partner in this business is a chef named Namrata Sundaresan. They had known each other for about ten years before starting the company.
Their first cheese was a type of soft cheese called Quark. They make their cheeses using old, traditional methods. They also add special local ingredients. For example, they use Milagai Podi, a spicy powder, to make a cheddar cheese called "Ode to Chennai."
A Social Business
Because of her background in helping people, Anuradha decided to hire and train women with disabilities at Käse Cheese. This gives them valuable skills and jobs. By 2020, Käse Cheese was making over 30 different kinds of cheese!
Winning a Top Award
Anuradha Krishnamoorthy and Namrata Sundaresan both received the 2017 Nari Shakti Puraskar. This award was given to them for their great work as entrepreneurs. The Nari Shakti Puraskar is the highest award given to women in India.
The awards were presented on International Women's Day in 2018. The President of India gave them the awards. This happened on behalf of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.
