About Anyinginyi Health
How it Started
Anyinginyi Congress Aboriginal Corporation began in 1984. Its main goal was to help people in the region. It aimed to reduce poverty and improve health. The word "Anyinginyi" comes from the Warumungu language. It means "belonging to us." In 2003, the organization changed its name. It became Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation.
What Anyinginyi Does
Anyinginyi is a health organization controlled by the local Aboriginal community. An Indigenous Board of Directors guides its work. This means Aboriginal leaders make the decisions. The current leader of the board is Ross Jakamarra Williams.
Even though it is based in Tennant Creek, Anyinginyi helps many communities. It offers health services to 10 other places. These services include care for new mothers and babies. They also provide eye care and dental services. Mental health support is also available.
Modern Health Centre
In April 2010, Anyinginyi moved into a specially built health centre. This new building helped them serve more people. The number of clients grew to over 7,500. This was an increase of more than 50 percent.
Notable People
Some well-known people have worked at Anyinginyi. One example is Richard Di Natale. He was a leader of the Greens political party in Australia.
