The Apón River (Spanish: Rio Apón) is a river found in Venezuela. It flows into Lake Maracaibo, which is a very large lake in South America.
The Apón River starts high up in the mountains. Its source is in the Serranía del Perijá, a mountain range that forms part of the Andes mountains.
As the river flows towards the lake, it passes through a special kind of forest. This area is known as the Catatumbo moist forests. These forests are very wet and full of different plants and animals.
