April Jace (born April Denise Laune; May 6, 1974 – May 19, 2014) was an American athlete. She was a talented masters track and field runner. She competed in sprinting races. In 2011, she became a world champion. She won this title in the women's over-35 4 × 100 meters relay event.

Early Life and Education

April Laune grew up in Hawthorne, California. She went to Hawthorne High School. After high school, she continued her education. She attended college at California State University, Fullerton.

April Jace's Amazing Athletic Career

April Jace was a dedicated runner. She competed with the Elite Health team. Later, she joined the Trojan Masters Club. In 2013, she won the Southern California USATF W35 championship. This was for the 100 meters race.

She also placed second in a special W35 Invitational race. This was at the famous Mt. SAC Relays. She was only beaten by American record holder Joy Upshaw. April was ranked as high as number 5 in the United States. She was a finalist in the 100 meters at the 2011 World Masters Athletics Championships. She also earned a gold medal there. This was as part of the USA 4×100 meters relay team.

Her Personal Life

April Jace was married to actor Michael Jace. They were married for ten years. Together, they had two children. April was also a mother to a third child.

Remembering April Jace

Sadly, April Jace passed away on May 19, 2014. She was remembered by many. Her family released a statement. They called her passing a "senseless act." A memorial service was held for her. It took place at the Oasis Church in Los Angeles, California.

People created a GoFundMe page. This was to support her three children. At the time, her children were aged 5, 8, and 18. April had worked for the LAUSD in the past. She was also a "well-liked financial aid counselor." She worked at Biola University's Financial Aid department. The university closed its office in her memory. The Director praised her hard work. They also noted her service to the university's students. Another memorial was held at the university. It was at the Calvary Chapel. Biola University has also created a special scholarship. It is a Memorial Scholarship in her name.
