Michael Andrew Jace (born July 13, 1962) is an American actor. He is best known for his role as Officer Julien Lowe in the TV show The Shield. He also appeared in movies like Forrest Gump.
In 2014, Michael Jace was arrested. He was later found guilty of a serious crime related to the death of his wife, April Jace. In 2016, he was sentenced to a long time in prison.
Acting Career: Michael Jace's Roles
Michael Jace started his acting career in 1992. One of his first TV appearances was in an episode of Law & Order.
In 1994, he acted in several TV shows and movies. These included Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and the famous movie Forrest Gump. In Forrest Gump, he played a leader of the Black Panthers.
Jace also appeared in other films. He was in Strange Days as a bodyguard. In The Replacements, he played a prison inmate who became a football player. He also had roles in Boogie Nights and The Fan.
In 2001, Jace played Major Frank Santos in Tim Burton's movie Planet of the Apes.
His TV roles included the 1995 HBO movie Tyson. He played boxer Mitch Green in that film. He also appeared in Cold Case. In 1999, he played Michael Jordan in the TV movie Michael Jordan: An American Hero.
In 2002, Jace got a main role on the hit show The Shield. He played Officer Julien Lowe for all seven seasons. He appeared in 88 episodes of the show.
After The Shield, Jace had a small role in the movie State of Play. From 2009 to 2013, he also had a recurring role on the TV series Southland.
Legal Issues: The Conviction
On May 19, 2014, police were called to Michael Jace's home in Hyde Park, Los Angeles. When they arrived, they found his wife, April, had died from gunshot wounds.
Jace was arrested the next day, May 20, 2014. He was charged with a serious crime related to his wife's death.
On May 31, 2016, a jury found Michael Jace guilty. On June 10, 2016, he was sentenced to a long time in prison. He is currently held at the Corcoran State Prison.
