Aptus, Missouri facts for kids
Aptus is a small, unincorporated community located in Washington County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
You can find Aptus about eight miles northwest of Potosi, a larger town nearby. It's situated along Missouri Route F, just north of where Rogue Creek flows into Mineral Fork.
The Story of Aptus
Aptus once had its own post office. A post office is a place where people send and receive mail. This post office opened in 1890 and stayed in operation until 1915.
It's a bit of a mystery why the name "Aptus" was chosen for this community. No one knows for sure!
In 1925, Aptus was a very small place. At that time, only 33 people lived there.
