Starting Strong at Atlético Nacional
Aquivaldo Mosquera began his professional football career in 2000. He played for the Colombian club Atlético Nacional. He was a key player for them, appearing in over 150 matches.
Success with Pachuca in Mexico
In 2005, Mosquera moved to Mexico to join Pachuca. His time there was very successful. He helped Pachuca win two league titles in 2006 and 2007. They also won the CONCACAF Champions' Cup in 2007. This is a big tournament for clubs in North and Central America. In 2006, they won the Copa Sudamericana, a major South American club competition.
Playing in Spain with Sevilla
After his success in Mexico, Mosquera moved to Spain in 2007. He joined Sevilla FC, a team in La Liga, Spain's top football league. He stayed with Sevilla until 2009. During this time, he played in 41 league matches.
Captaining Club América to a Title
In 2009, Mosquera returned to Mexico. He signed with Club América, one of Mexico's most famous clubs. He quickly became an important player for the team. On May 26, 2013, Mosquera, as the team captain, led América to a league title. They won against Cruz Azul in an exciting final. He even scored the first goal in the second game of the final. América won the championship after a penalty shootout.
Returning to Pachuca
On June 4, 2014, Mosquera moved back to Pachuca. This transfer happened during the Mexican football draft. He continued to play for Pachuca for a few more years.
Playing for His Country: Colombia
Mosquera was also a proud member of the Colombia national team. He was called up many times to play for his country. He participated in the qualifiers for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. For the first part of these World Cup qualifiers, he was the captain of the Colombian team.
