The Arabic Wikipedia is a huge online encyclopedia. It is written in the Arabic language. Just like the main Wikipedia, it is a project where many volunteers work together. They write and edit articles to share knowledge with the world.
How Big is it?
The Arabic Wikipedia started in September 2001. It was one of the first versions of Wikipedia in a different language. At first, it was the 23rd largest Wikipedia by the number of articles. But over time, it grew a lot. It became the 17th largest Wikipedia.
As of August 2014, the Arabic Wikipedia had a lot of content. It had over 300,000 articles. It also had more than 1,350,000 pages in total. Over 625,000 people had registered accounts to help edit. There were also more than 15,000 files, like pictures, available.
Where is it Used?
People all over the world use the Arabic Wikipedia. It is a great resource for anyone who speaks Arabic. Sometimes, access to the Arabic Wikipedia has been blocked in certain places, like Syria.
