The Story of Aragon Mill

Early Days and Growth

In 1900, a company called A. D. Juilliard Co., Inc. bought the mill. They made many changes over the years. In 1900, they added a new section. This part of the mill held six pairs of machines called spinning mules. These machines helped make thread.

Four years later, in 1904, a second floor was built. More machines were added, including 56 duck C&K looms. Looms are machines that weave thread into fabric. The old spinning mules were taken out and new machines called twisters were put in.

Changes in Ownership

In the 1930s, the Aragon Mill became part of United Merchants Mill. The factory kept making products until it closed down in 1970.

In 1972, a company called Integrated Products bought the mill. They ran it for many years, until 1989. After that, David Bridges bought the plant. He kept the name "Aragon Mill." However, the mill closed its doors for good on March 31, 1990.

The Final Chapter

In October 1990, Diamond Rug and Carpet bought the mill. This company was from Dalton. They operated the mill until 1994. After that, the mill building stayed empty for a few years.

In 1998, two brothers, Brian and Kirk Spears, bought the old mill. They used it to make pillows and wooden pallets. But on August 6, 2002, a big fire destroyed the entire complex.
