Arbúcies (pronounced "ar-BOO-see-es") is a lovely village in the province of Girona. This area is part of Catalonia, which is a special region in Spain. The village covers about 86 square kilometers (33 square miles). In 2014, around 6,481 people lived there.

A Look at Arbúcies' Past
Arbúcies has a long history. It was first home to the Iberians, an ancient people of Spain. Later, the Romans settled here.
During the Middle Ages, a time when kings and lords ruled, Montsoriu Castle was very important. Powerful families, like the viscounts of Cabrera, lived there.
A significant event happened on January 14, 1714. This was during the War of the Spanish Succession. Local fighters who supported Archduke Charles of Austria faced off against soldiers loyal to Philip V.
The fight took place near the Arbúcies stream, close to an old mill. The Archduke's supporters won, defeating Philip V's troops. Sadly, after this battle, the town of Arbúcies was completely burned down.
What Arbúcies Makes: Its Economy
Arbúcies is known for making things! Its main industry is building parts for buses. Some of Spain's biggest bus manufacturing companies are located right here. These include Beulas, Ayats, Indcar, and Noge.
Another important business in the village is Jocavi. This company makes clothes for women. They sell their clothing all over Europe!
