Arbor is a small place in Lancaster County, Nebraska, United States. It is an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government. Instead, it is managed by the larger county.
History of Arbor
Arbor's name might come from Arbor Lodge. This was the large home and land of Julius Sterling Morton. He was an important person in the government. Morton served as the third United States Secretary of Agriculture. This job meant he was in charge of farming and nature for the whole country.
Some people think Arbor was named for the many trees there. These trees lined the area where the town was planned. Arbor also had its own post office for a short time. It was open from 1894 until 1900.
