History of Arbora & Ausonia

Arbora Holding started in 1968, and Ausonia began in 1977. These two companies joined together in 1998 to create Arbora & Ausonia. It became a top company in Spain and Portugal for personal care and hygiene products.

In 1989, Arbora & Ausonia became a joint venture. This means it was owned by two different companies working together. One owner was Procter & Gamble, a big international company known for many consumer products. The other owner was Agrolimen, a Spanish company that mainly focused on food.

During this time, Arbora & Ausonia sold its products in Spain and Portugal. Its main offices were in Barcelona, Spain, and it also had offices in Oeiras, near Lisbon, Portugal. About 1,300 people worked for the company in its offices and factories.

One of their biggest factories was in Jijona, Spain. About 500 people worked there. This factory grew a lot over the years, from 2,600 square meters in the 1980s to 59,500 square meters. Arbora & Ausonia also had two other factories. These were located in Mequinenza (near Zaragoza) and Montornès del Vallès (near Barcelona) in Spain.

In 2012, Agrolimen announced that it would sell its half of Arbora & Ausonia to Procter & Gamble for about one billion US dollars. Then, in 2013, Procter & Gamble announced that Arbora & Ausonia would become a full part of Procter & Gamble. This meant closing the Barcelona headquarters, but most of the other factories and offices stayed open.
