Arcadia is a peaceful village that feels far away from busy cities. It's a great place to visit if you enjoy nature. The village is mostly within the Arcadia Management Area, which is a large protected natural space.

Where is Arcadia Located?

Arcadia is found near where the towns of Richmond, Exeter, and Hopkinton meet. The main way to get there is by taking Arcadia Road. You can reach Arcadia Road from Nooseneck Hill Road. This road is easy to find from I-95, using exit 4 in Rhode Island.

What's it Like in Arcadia?

Arcadia is a very small village with only a few people living there. Most of the houses are on the Richmond side of the village. Even though it's small, it has a unique feature: people living in Arcadia use two different postal codes! If you live on the Exeter side, your postal code is "02822" (Exeter). If you live on the Richmond side, your postal code is "02832" (Hope Valley).

The Tomaquag Museum

One of the most important places in Arcadia is the Tomaquag Museum. This museum is located on the Exeter side of the village. It is dedicated to sharing the history and culture of the Narragansett and other Native American communities in Southern New England. It's a wonderful place to learn about the past and present of these groups.

The museum once had a private school called the Nuweetooun School. However, this school closed in 2010 because of flooding. The Tomaquag Museum continues its important work of preserving history and educating visitors.
