Arden's Garden is a juice company based in Atlanta, Georgia. It is a family-owned business that started in 1995. Today, Arden's Garden has 16 stores in Atlanta. You can also find their bottled juices in seven different states. These states include Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, Tennessee, and both North and South Carolina. The company has grown a lot over the years. For example, their sales were almost $3 million in 2011 and around $5 million in 2021.
How Arden's Garden Started
Arden Zinn, the founder, began making juice at home in 1994. She had bought a special juicer and enjoyed making fresh juices for her family and friends. Soon, she thought about selling her delicious homemade juices.
At first, it was a bit tricky because fresh juices don't last long. This made it hard to sell them widely. But then, a friend had a great idea! They suggested Arden sell her juices at local hair salons. This idea worked really well, and that's how Arden's Garden officially began.
Arden's daughter, Leslie Zinn, helped her mother start the company. Today, Leslie is the president and CEO of Arden's Garden. The company has continued to grow, opening more than 15 stores across the Atlanta area.
A Big Challenge and Victory
In 2003, Arden's Garden faced a big challenge. Their largest customer, a national grocery store chain called Publix, decided to stop selling Arden's Garden juices. Instead, Publix chose to sell a different national brand called Odwalla, which was owned by a huge company, Coca-Cola.
Leslie Zinn, Arden's daughter, didn't give up. She sent an email to her friends explaining what happened. This email quickly spread, and soon, about 3,000 people joined a letter-writing campaign. They wrote to Publix, asking them to bring Arden's Garden juices back.
Publix received a lot of feedback from customers who wanted Arden's Garden back. Because of this strong support, Publix listened! They stopped selling Odwalla and put Arden's Garden juices back on their shelves. Not only that, but they also started selling Arden's Garden products in 200 more stores. This was a huge victory for the small, family-owned company!
