In 2013, a count of people was done in Honduras. This count is called a census. The census showed that Arenal municipality had 5,949 people living there.
Different Groups of People
Most people in Arenal are called Mestizo. This means they have mixed heritage, often from both European and Indigenous backgrounds. A smaller number of people are Black or Afro-Honduran. They have African heritage. There are also some Indigenous people, who are the original inhabitants of the land. A very small number of people are identified as White.
