Arielle Kayabaga is a Canadian politician. She was elected to the Canadian House of Commons in the 2021 Canadian federal election. She represents the area called London West. She is a member of the Liberal Party of Canada.

About Arielle Kayabaga
Her Early Life and Moving to Canada
Arielle Kayabaga was born in Bujumbura, Burundi. When she was 11 years old, her family moved to Canada. They came as refugees because of the Burundian Civil War. They lived in Montreal for one year. After that, they moved to London, Ontario.
Education and Early Career
Arielle studied political science at Carleton University in Ottawa. She earned her bachelor's degree in 2013. Before becoming a politician, she helped new people settle in Canada. She worked as a settlement worker in London and nearby Sarnia, Ontario. She helped newcomers find homes and jobs.
Becoming a City Councillor
In 2018, Arielle was elected to the London City Council. She was 27 years old at the time. She made history by becoming the first Black woman to be elected to the city council in London. As a city councillor, she led important committees. She helped make decisions about the city's money and services.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
Before the 2021 Canadian federal election, Arielle decided to run for a seat in the federal government. She wanted to become a Member of Parliament (MP). She won the nomination for the Liberal Party of Canada in London West. She then won the election with 36.8% of the votes. She took over from the previous Liberal MP, Kate Young. Arielle is the first Franco-Ontarian person to be an MP for London West. This means she is a French-speaking person from Ontario who now represents this area in Parliament.
