Arjun Vajpai was born on June 9, 1993. He is an amazing Indian mountaineer. In 2018, he became the youngest person in the world to climb six mountains taller than 8,000 meters (about 26,247 feet)! These are some of the highest and toughest peaks on Earth.
Arjun first climbed Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain, in 2010. He was only 16 years old at the time. This made him the youngest Indian to reach the top of Everest back then. He broke the record of Krushnaa Patil, who was 19 when she climbed Everest. Just a year later, in 2011, Arjun also became the youngest person ever to reach the summit of Lhotse, another giant mountain. He was 17 years old.

Arjun's Early Life and Training
Arjun Vajpai grew up in Noida, India. His parents are Col. Sanjeev Vajpai and Priya Vajpai. He went to the International School in Noida. To become a skilled mountaineer, Arjun trained at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. This famous institute is in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, and teaches people how to climb mountains safely.

Conquering More Giant Peaks
After his climbs of Everest and Lhotse, Arjun continued his journey. In 2011, he also climbed Manaslu. This is another one of the world's highest mountains.
Arjun tried to climb Makalu three times before finally succeeding. On his fourth try, on May 22, 2016, he reached the summit! This shows how determined he is.
Naming a Mountain: Mount Kalam
On October 14, 2015, Arjun Vajpai and fellow climber Bhupesh Kumar did something special. They climbed an unnamed peak in the Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh. This mountain was 6,180 meters (about 20,276 feet) high. They decided to name it Mount Kalam. They did this to honor the late President of India, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
Challenges on Cho Oyu
Arjun Vajpai also climbed Cho Oyu, which is in Tibet. He was joined by Pasang Norbu Sherpa and Lakpa Sherpa.
During one of his attempts to climb Cho Oyu in 2012, Arjun faced a very difficult situation. He became paralyzed for two days at a very high altitude of 22,000 feet (about 6,700 meters). Luckily, a Swiss adventurer named Olivier Racine came to his rescue. He gave Arjun the right medicine, which helped him recover.
In April 2023, Arjun was rescued from Annapurna mountain. This happened while he was returning from the summit.
