Arkady Mikhailovich Arkanov (Russian: Аркадий Михайлович Арканов; 7 June 1933 – 22 March 2015) was a talented Russian writer, doctor, and playwright. He was also a popular stand-up comedian. He was known for his clever and funny works.

Early Life and Education
Arkady Arkanov was born in Kyiv, which was then part of the Soviet Union. His birth name was Arkady Mikhailovich Steinbock.
When World War II began in 1941, Arkady, his mother, and his younger brother had to move to Siberia for safety. In 1943, his family was able to reunite with his father in Moscow.
In 1957, Arkady graduated from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. Before he became a famous writer, he worked as a family doctor.
Becoming a Writer and Comedian
Between 1963 and 1967, Arkady worked as a satirist for a magazine called Yunost. A satirist is someone who uses humor, irony, or exaggeration to criticize people's mistakes or foolishness.
In 1966, he decided to change his last name to Arkanov. In 1968, he became a member of the Union of Soviet Writers. This was a group for professional writers in the Soviet Union.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Arkady worked with another writer named Grigori Gorin. Together, they wrote several plays for the Moscow Theater of Satire.
Family and Awards
Arkady Arkanov was married twice. His first wife was Maya Kristalinskaya, a singer. Later, he married Yevgeniya Morozova.
He had a son named Vasily Arkadievich Arkanov, who was born in 1967. Vasily became a Russian-English translator and journalist. He has lived in New York since 1993.
Arkady Arkanov received important honors for his work. He was given the title of People's Artist of Russia. This is a special award given to artists who have made great contributions to their country's culture. He also received the Order of Honour.
