Arlissa Ruppert, known simply as Arlissa, is a talented singer and songwriter. She was born in Germany on September 21, 1992, and grew up in London, UK. Arlissa's Musical Journey
Arlissa's music career began to shine with her first song, "Hard to Love Somebody." This song caught the attention of famous rapper Nas, who liked it so much he decided to sing on it with her! The song became very popular on BBC Radio 1 in November 2012. Because of this success, the BBC chose Arlissa as one of the new artists to watch in 2013.
Her first official single, "Sticks & Stones", came out in March 2013. It was a powerful song about breaking up and reached number 48 on the UK Singles Chart. Later, in 2017, singer Nelly Furtado even covered "Sticks and Stones" for her own album!
Writing Hit Songs
Arlissa is not just a singer; she's also a fantastic songwriter. She helped write the super popular K-pop song "Spring Day" for the group BTS. This song was a huge hit, topping the charts and being downloaded over 2.5 million times! It even won 'Song of the Year' at the 2017 Melon Music Awards.
In January 2018, Arlissa worked with British DJ Jonas Blue to create an electronic dance music (EDM) version of her song "Hearts Ain't Gonna Lie". She also performed a live acoustic version of her song on NBC's Today Show in March 2018.
Arlissa's music has also been featured in movies. She co-wrote and sang "We Won't Move" for the soundtrack of the 2018 film The Hate U Give. She even performed the song at the film's big international premiere at the 2018 Toronto Film Festival.
Recent Music Releases
In 2020, Arlissa released a single called "Healing." On June 17, 2022, she announced her first full album, The Open-Hearted. This album was released on October 6, 2023. Before the album came out, she released several songs from it, including "Pieces," "Take," "Hard to Be," "My Heart Is on the Floor," and "Audacity."
