Armand Uolevi Lohikoski (born January 3, 1912 – died March 20, 2005) was a famous Finnish movie director and writer. He was born in Astoria, Oregon, in the United States, but later moved to Finland. He is best known for directing many of the popular Pekka ja Pätkä movies. These films were very popular in Finland during their time.

Armand Lohikoski's Journey in Media and Film
Starting in Media
Before he became a film director, Armand Lohikoski worked in many different parts of the media world. He started as a journalist, writing for newspapers. He also worked at the Finnish Broadcasting Company, which is a big TV and radio station in Finland. There, he was a division director. He even created Finland's very first radio quiz show!
Later, he became the head of the Helsinki office for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Films. This was a huge American movie company. He was also the first person to publish free newspapers in Finland. This means newspapers that people didn't have to pay for.
Becoming a Film Director
Armand Lohikoski directed 18 full-length movies for a major Finnish movie company called Suomen Filmiteollisuus. He also directed many short films and commercials. He even acted in some of his own movies!
He is most famous for directing many of the Pekka ja Pätkä films. These movies were about two funny characters, Pekka and Pätkä, and their silly adventures.
Writing Books
Besides his work in movies, Lohikoski also wrote books. In 1946, he wrote a travel book called Dollari on lujassa. It was about a famous student choir from Helsinki, the YL Male Voice Choir, and their visit to the United States after World War II.
In 1993, he wrote his own life story, called Mies Puupää-filmien takaa. He also wrote a book of short, clever sayings, called Sattuvasti Sanottua, in 2002. Armand Lohikoski passed away in Helsinki after a short illness.
