The Armed Forces of Belarus are the country's military. They protect Belarus and keep its people safe. These forces include the Ground Forces and the Belarusian Air Force.
All parts of the military are led by the Ministry of Defence. This government group makes sure the armed forces are ready. Belarus is a landlocked country. This means it has no access to the sea. Because of this, Belarus does not have a navy.

What are the Armed Forces of Belarus?
The Armed Forces of Belarus are made up of two main parts. These are the Ground Forces and the Belarusian Air Force. The Ground Forces are like an army. They operate on land. The Air Force protects the skies. They also have air defense systems.
Who leads the military?
The Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus is in charge. This ministry is a government department. Its job is to organize and support the military. Lieutenant General Yurij Viktorovich Zhadobin has been the Minister of Defence since 2009. The President of Belarus is the commander-in-chief. This means the President is the top leader of the military.
When were the forces formed?
The Ministry of Defence started in 1992. This was an important year for Belarus. It became an independent country in 1991. This happened after the Soviet Union ended. So, the armed forces were formed to protect the new independent nation.
