Arne Knut Pedersen (born November 1, 1931 – died November 16, 2013) was a famous Norwegian football player. He played as an attacking midfielder, a position that helps score goals. Arne spent his whole career with his hometown club, Fredrikstad FK. He was a very important player during their best years in the 1950s and early 1960s. He also played 40 games for the Norwegian national team and scored 11 goals.

Arne Pedersen's Football Journey

Arne Pedersen was born and grew up in Fredrikstad, Norway. He joined Fredrikstad FK as a young player in 1945. His older brother, Leif Pedersen, also played for the club. Arne started playing for FFK's main team in 1950. He quickly became a regular and key player.

Winning Titles with Fredrikstad

During his time with Fredrikstad, Arne Pedersen helped his team win many titles. He won the Norwegian league six times. He also won the Norwegian Football Cup three times. In 1957 and 1961, FFK won both the league and the cup in the same year. This is called winning the "double." Arne Pedersen is the most successful player in Fredrikstad FK's history.

In 1960, Pedersen scored a goal when Fredrikstad beat Ajax 4-3. This was in the European Champions Cup. He also played in the return match in Amsterdam, which ended in a 0-0 draw.

Arne Pedersen played 231 league matches for Fredrikstad. He scored 107 goals between 1950 and 1966. His very last game for the club was the 1966 Cup Final. In that game, he scored the winning goal from a penalty kick. FFK beat Lyn 3-2. In total, he played 342 matches for Fredrikstad. This is a club record!

Playing for Norway

Arne Pedersen first played for the Norwegian national team in November 1957. This was a 1958 World Cup qualification game against Hungary. He scored his first goal for Norway the next year against Finland.

He became a regular player for the national team in 1962. In June 1963, he scored a goal in Norway's surprising 4-3 win against Scotland. He also played in Norway's big 3-0 victory against Yugoslavia. This was a World Cup qualifier in 1965.

Life After Playing Football

After he stopped playing in 1966, Arne Pedersen became a football coach. He coached several clubs in the Østfold region of Norway. He even coached his old club, Fredrikstad, from 1971 to 1973. He also coached smaller teams like Trosvik, Torp, Tistedalen, and Kvik Halden. Arne Pedersen passed away on November 16, 2013, when he was 82 years old.
