Arnold F. Meyer & Co. facts for kids
Arnold F. Meyer and his company, the Arnold F. Meyer & Co., were builders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They were known for constructing many buildings, especially homes, using unique designs by a famous architect named Ernest Flagg. Many of these buildings are now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means they are important historical sites.
Building Unique Homes
Before starting his own company, Arnold F. Meyer worked with the Rath Construction Company. There, he learned about special ways to build smaller homes from architect Ernest Flagg. Flagg had specific ideas for making houses that were well-built and often had a distinct look.
In 1924, Meyer decided to start his own business, the Arnold F. Meyer & Company, Inc. His goal was to build small homes using these special methods he learned from Flagg. The company started by building four houses for people Meyer knew.
A Short but Busy Time
Even though Arnold F. Meyer & Company was only in business for a short time, they were quite busy! They built at least 25 homes in total. However, the company stopped operating by the end of 1925. Despite its short history, the homes they built are still recognized today for their unique design and historical value.
