Aroma, Missouri facts for kids
Aroma is a small, quiet place in the southern part of Newton County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.
This community is located near Hickory Creek. It is about 1.5 miles east of Monark Springs. Aroma can be found along Missouri Route H, about 2.5 miles north of Sweetwater. It is also about 4.5 miles east of the city of Neosho.
History of Aroma
Aroma got its name from something special that grew there. The area was known for growing a type of strawberry called the "Aroma variety." These strawberries likely had a wonderful smell, which is what "aroma" means.
A post office was opened in Aroma in 1910. This allowed people in the community to send and receive mail. However, the post office did not stay open for very long. It closed just one year later, in 1911.
