What is Arroyo Seco Raceway?
Arroyo Seco Raceway is a fun place where different types of races happen. It has a main track that twists and turns, like a winding road. This is called a road course. There's also a straight track for drag races, where cars go super fast in a straight line.
Road Course Options
The road course at Arroyo Seco is really flexible. Racers can use it in many ways!
- It can be driven in two directions: clockwise (like a clock) or counter-clockwise (the other way).
- There are two main lengths for the track.
- The longer track is about 1.4 miles (2.3 km) long. It has tricky turns called "esses" and a special curve called a "chicane."
- The shorter track is about 1.1 miles (1.8 km) long. This version skips the esses and chicane.
This means there are actually four different ways to race on the road course!
Supermoto Fun
The raceway also has a course for supermoto racing. Supermoto is a mix of road racing and off-road dirt biking. The supermoto course often uses the main road course. It also includes a special dirt track inside the road course area. This makes for exciting races with both paved and dirt sections.
Drag Racing
If you love speed, the drag strip is for you! This is a long, straight track where two vehicles race side-by-side. They try to see who can get to the finish line first. It's all about quick starts and powerful engines.
