The Art Gallery of Burlington is a cool place in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. It opened in 1978 and is one of the biggest public art galleries in Ontario. This gallery is special because it has the largest collection of modern Canadian ceramics in all of Canada. You can find it right by the water in Burlington, near Spencer Smith Park.

Discover the Gallery's History
The Art Gallery of Burlington started thanks to many active art groups in the Burlington area. These groups wanted a special place for artists to work and share their crafts. In 1978, it opened as a facility for art groups.
It was a place where artists could have dedicated studios. They practiced things like photography, weaving, sculpture, woodcarving, and ceramics. This group of artists and their studios is known today as Arts Burlington.
Over time, the gallery grew bigger. It started to become a public art gallery for everyone to enjoy. It began holding art exhibitions and publishing information about art. In 1983, it started collecting modern Canadian ceramic art. The gallery also began offering educational programs for people to learn about art. The building itself has been expanded twice, once in 1991 and again in 2001.

The Art Gallery of Burlington is a large building, about 4,100 square meters (44,000 square feet). It has many different areas for art and learning.
Exhibition Areas
The gallery has several spaces where you can see amazing art. The main exhibition area is the AIC Gallery, which is 400 square meters (4,200 square feet). There is also the F.R. (Bob) Perry Gallery, which is 40 square meters (400 square feet). You can also find art displayed in the collection atrium and in special display cases throughout the building. Outside, there's a 225 square meter (2,400 square feet) courtyard for outdoor art displays.
Learning and Community Spaces
If you want to learn how to create art, the gallery has 10 studio classrooms. These are used for educational programs and workshops. The building also has meeting rooms, a gallery shop where you can buy unique items, a café, and offices. These areas make up about 1,400 square meters (15,000 square feet) of the facility.
