Ashleigh Murray (born January 18, 1988) is an American actress and singer. She is well-known for her role as Josie McCoy. Josie was the lead singer of the band Josie and the Pussycats in The CW TV series Riverdale. Ashleigh starred in Riverdale from 2017 to 2019. She played Josie McCoy again in the Riverdale spin-off show Katy Keene in 2020. Ashleigh also returned to Riverdale as a special guest in 2021 and 2023. She has also acted in movies like Deidra & Laney Rob a Train (2017) and Valley Girl (2020). Her TV shows include Tom Swift (2022) and The Other Black Girl (2023).

Ashleigh Murray's Early Life and Education
Ashleigh Murray was born on January 18, 1988. Her hometown is Kansas City, Missouri. When she was 10 years old, she was in a school play. This play made her love acting and performing. After finishing high school, Ashleigh moved to New York City. There, she studied acting at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. She graduated from the school in 2009.
Ashleigh Murray's Acting Career
In 2016, Ashleigh Murray got a main role in The CW's teen drama Riverdale. She played Josie McCoy. Josie was a stylish and ambitious girl who sang lead for the popular band Josie and the Pussycats. The show started in 2017, and Ashleigh was a main cast member until 2019.
Ashleigh used her real singing voice for all of Josie and the Pussycats' performances on the show. However, she has said she does not want to be a professional singer herself. In February 2019, it was announced that Ashleigh would play Josie McCoy again. This time, it was for the main cast of the Riverdale spin-off show, Katy Keene. In May 2019, The CW decided to make Katy Keene into a full series. Katy Keene was canceled after one season in July 2020. After that, Ashleigh came back to Riverdale as a guest star in 2021 and 2023.
Ashleigh also had a main role in the 2017 Netflix movie Deidra & Laney Rob a Train. This movie first showed at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2017. It was released to everyone on March 17, 2017. In April 2017, Ashleigh joined the cast of MGM's musical movie Valley Girl. This movie was a remake of the 1983 film. She played a character named Loryn.
In May 2022, Ashleigh Murray starred in the Nancy Drew spin-off series Tom Swift. Later that same year, she was cast as Hazel-May McCall. This was for the Hulu mystery thriller series The Other Black Girl. This TV show was based on the 2021 book by Zakiya Dalila Harris.
