A Glimpse into Ashton's Past

Reports suggest that Ashton was situated near what is now County Road 12. This location is about 1.5 miles east-north-east of Ridgeway, Minnesota. However, it is not clear if any parts of the old settlement are still visible today. This is because of highway construction in the area.

A post office was open in Ashton for a little over a decade. It started operating on April 28, 1891. The post office then closed its doors on November 29, 1902. The closing of the post office often marks the end of a small town's active life.
