Askartza Gasteiz

Askartza is a small and charming village located in Álava, which is a special province in the Basque Country, a unique region in northern Spain. It's a quiet place where people live close to nature.

Who Lives in Askartza?

Askartza is a small community. In 2010, about 59 people lived there. The number of people living in Askartza has stayed quite steady over the years, usually between 57 and 62 residents. This shows it's a close-knit village where not many people move in or out.

Where is Askartza Located?

Askartza is found on the eastern side of its local area. It sits right next to the A-132 road. This road connects Askartza to bigger towns. For example, it's only about 6 kilometers (about 3.7 miles) from Vitoria-Gasteiz, which is a much larger city. If you travel east on the same road, you'll find other villages like Argandoña, Andollu, and Santa Cruz de Campezo.

A Bit of History

Askartza has an interesting past! It is one of 43 villages that became part of the city of Vitoria at different times. This happened a long time ago. Later, in 1840, a group of villages called Cuadrilla de Añana decided to separate and form their own area. But Askartza chose to stay with the Cuadrilla de Vitoria, which means it remained connected to the larger Vitoria area.
