Assi Azar (Hebrew: אסי עזר; born June 10, 1979) is a well-known Israeli television host and writer. He is famous for creating the romantic comedy TV series Beauty and the Baker. He also helped create a new TV series called Metukim.
About Assi Azar
Assi Azar was born in Holon, Israel. His family background includes both Bukharan-Jewish and Yemenite heritage. On April 11, 2016, Azar married his Spanish partner, Albert Escolà Benet. Their wedding ceremony took place in Barcelona, Spain.
Azar is known for being a public figure who supports equal rights for all people. In 2009, he was recognized as one of the most influential people in the world by OUT Magazine.
Assi Azar's TV Career
Assi Azar has hosted many popular TV shows in Israel. He was a co-host for Big Brother - Israel until 2015. He also co-hosted The Next Star with Rotem Sela. Besides hosting, he created the romantic comedy TV series Beauty and the Baker.
Early TV Work
Azar's first program was an online show called KIK. From 2004 to 2005, he co-hosted a TV show for young people called Exit. Later, he appeared in other programs like Good Evening with Guy Pines. He also worked on satirical shows such as Trapped 24 and Talk to My Agent.
Hosting Eurovision 2019
Assi Azar hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. He hosted the event alongside Lucy Ayoub, Erez Tal, and Bar Refaeli. Tal and Refaeli were the main hosts. Azar and Ayoub were in charge of the green room, where the contestants waited. On January 28, Azar and Ayoub also hosted the semi-final draw for the contest. This event took place at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
