Lodewijk Paulina Van Den Bergh (born June 18, 1920 – died September 29, 2020) was a famous Belgian writer. He was known by his real name, Lode Van Den Bergh, but he also used two other names when he wrote: Aster Berkhof and Piet Visser.

Lode Van Den Bergh was a very talented writer from Belgium. He lived to be 100 years old! He wrote many books and stories that people enjoyed reading.
His Early Life and Education
Lode Van Den Bergh was born in a town called Rijkevorsel in Belgium. This was on June 18, 1920. He went to primary school in his hometown. His father was actually the head of that school! For high school, he studied at the Klein Seminarie in Hoogstraten. After high school, he went to the Catholic University of Leuven. He studied Germanic philology there from 1938 to 1942. This is a field that studies languages and literature. In 1946, he earned a special degree called a PhD in philosophy. This means he studied big ideas about life and knowledge.
His Career as a Writer and Teacher
Lode Van Den Bergh started his working life at the Catholic University of Leuven. He was a scientific assistant there. Later, he became a teacher at several Royal Athenaea schools. These are like public high schools in Belgium. He taught in big cities like Antwerp and Brussels. Finally, he became a professor at the Saint Ignatius Faculty in Antwerp. This was part of the University of Antwerp. So, he spent a lot of his life teaching and sharing knowledge, as well as writing his own stories.
