Astrid's Journey to Snowboarding
Astrid Fina faced a big challenge in May 2009. She had a motorcycle accident that led to her right foot being amputated. Even after this, Astrid found a new passion. In 2011, she started practicing snowboarding. Just one year later, in 2012, she was already good enough to join the Spanish national team. This shows her incredible determination.
Amazing Achievements in Snowboarding
Astrid Fina has achieved many great things in her snowboarding career.
World Cup and National Success
In 2015, she showed her talent by finishing fourth in the World Cup. That same year, she won a gold medal in the Spanish championships. She also earned second place in the national open competition in Italy. Astrid was also the winner in the French national competition.
In the 2017 World Cup, Astrid continued to shine. She won a medal in all four events she entered. These events were in the SB-LL2 (LW2) category, which is for athletes with a specific type of leg amputation. She earned two medals in snowboardcross and two in banked slalom.
Paralympic Games Participation
Astrid has represented Spain in the Winter Paralympics. She competed in the 2014 Winter Paralympics held in Sochi. There, she earned an Olympic diploma for her sixth-place finish in snowboardcross.
She was also one of three Spanish athletes who participated in the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang. Astrid had the special honor of being the flag bearer for Spain in the opening ceremony. At the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, she won a bronze medal in the Snowboard Cross event.
